Local Events for the Family in Western MA

12th Annual NEF Spelling Bee - Wednesday, March 28th
The Adult Spelling Bee, Northampton Education Foundation's signature fundraiser, is only a  week away! The orthographizing gets underway on Wednesday, March 28th, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at JFK Middle School. In one of Northampton's favorite annual events, teams of 3 compete for prizes in spelling, humor, and costumes, all to raise money for the NEF Annual Fund. Food will be available for sale starting at 5:00, spelling starts at 6:00.  website
Birding Along the Connecticut River - Saturday, March 24th
Barton Cove and the Power Canal in Turners Falls are two great spots to view migrating birds in March.  They will begin indoors with a bried introduction to field identification tips, and then heat out in search of ducks, geese and other birds along the Connecticut River.  Begin at 1pm - 4pm, for ages 12 and over, FREE, Pre-registion required by calling 1-800-859-2960  website
